Jim joined Trinity-Pawling as a history teacher after spending several years teaching and coaching at the St. Andrew’s on the Marsh School in Savannah, Georgia. Originally from Fairport, NY, he attended Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio and SUNY, Albany. Jim obtained National Board Certification in Adolescent and Young Adult History and Social Studies in November of 2008 and serves as a reader for the AP US History exam.
Jim earned 6 Varsity Letters in Track and Field and Cross Country at CWRU, and competed in the NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships. He holds a USATF Level II certification in Endurance and Distance running. In his spare time, Jim likes to follow the games of hockey and football and read about Civil Rights and the 1960s. At T-P, he coaches the cross-country team as well as varsity track & field, and has helped both teams win Founders League championships.
Jim was appointed Chairman of the History Department in June of 2013. In addition, he serves as the Sophomore Form Advisor, where he challenges the Sophomores to grow as both students and citizens in the community. In the fall of 2011, he assumed the role of Faculty Advisor to the Honor Council and oversees Honor Council meetings and hearings. Jim also serves as the Faculty Advisor to the Model UN, where students are challenged to consider various issues in world politics.
Jim, his wife Nicolle, and their two children Katie, a junior at Elmira, and Kenny ’17 reside in Arches 7.
