Headmaster's Welcome

Trinity-Pawling School has the ability to transform lives. Boys arrive as adolescents and graduate as young men. Like all good things in life, our students may not realize how good they have it until they are forced to move on to the next phase of their young lives. But the lessons we teach in the classroom, the messages the boys hear on the playing fields, and the bonds formed between boys and adults have an enduring impact on a student’s life. Our mission is to give our students the tools to lead a happy, productive, and successful life.
In a recent blog on the school’s web site, members of the class of 1993 who are about to celebrate their 15th reunion were reminiscing about the good ole days at Trinity-Pawling School for Boys. One writer talked about respect and how hard it is for him even today to call people who command respect anything other than “Mr.”, “Sir”, or “Mrs.” In his words, respect was branded into his brain during his time at T-P. He was forever changed for the better by the school. The structured environment, the boys whom he met and befriended, and the teachers from whom he absorbed so much had an invaluable impact on him. Trinity-Pawling School has much to do with who he is today. Another blogger wrote that Trinity-Pawling had taught him discipline, confidence, and self-worth. Although he and his friends pretended to be above it all, T-P shares a special place in all their hearts.
The most rewarding part of being a teacher is watching our young charges grow into responsible citizens. The greatest compliment came from one blogger who wrote that his time at Trinity-Pawling was a unique and enriching experience both academically and personally. "As we move forward with our lives, I find more and more that the core values which I try to embody and pass on to my children are ideals that were forged during the years at Trinity-Pawling."
Within this community of boys, we strive to teach our students what it means to be a man. Contrary to the impression given by our society or the media, being a man is learning how to care for others, how to express emotions, and how to respect the difference in individuals. We form friendships, we show respect, and we work together as a community. Now in our second century, this mission will stand us in good stead.
