At Trinity-Pawling, we see that spark of greatness you've been carrying around inside you.  We will help you turn hopes into achievement; hard work into results.  Along the way, you'll discover greatness takes many forms.  A moment of kindness.  A family business.  A revolutionary idea.  It's all about discovering how you will shine--and contribute to the world around you.  Because we believe great men are needed everywhere.

All Boys

Trinity-Pawling is a boys' school not because single sex education is our mission, but rather, because single sex education helps us accomplish our mission.  We want to provide an environment where boys are encouraged to push themselves and explore their talents in all phases of life on campus free from the pressures and distraction that are unavoidable in the context of a coed school.

A few years ago, this approach to teaching was controversial. No longer. Today, expert after expert is acknowledging the fact that America's school culture puts boys at a disadvantage.  Today, a growing chorus praises the unique opportunities boys' schools provide.

We teach boys and stand by them as they develop into men. We achieve this goal by prodding, praising, cajoling, and exhorting. Our effort succeeds - with boys who are willing to accept this guidance and direction.

The Effort System

Effort System

At Trinity-Pawling, we're known for the Effort System, but our belief in effort goes much deeper than that.  It's the way we think--and how we live.  We believe all great accomplishments begin with perseverance in the face of challenges.  In the end, effort is how we measure ourselves, not only as students, but also as athletes, brothers, and school-citizens.

As members of the Pride, we strive for growth across many dimensions.  For each of us, hidden talents come to the surface, and we also see where we need to improve.  Ultimately, if you let it, Trinity-Pawling will give you a profound sense of self-understanding.  You'll put that awareness to good use--here at school, in college, and for the future.

Here's how the system works.  Every six weeks, each student receives an effort grade from the faculty.  They consider multiple aspects of student work--academics, dorm life, athletics, extracurricular involvement, campus service, and more.  Students are placed in Group 1 (highest) through Group 5 (lowest), depending on the commitment you've shown to your teachers, your coaches, your brothers--but most important, to yourself.

Climb Higher: Read our Viewbook

BrotherhoodAnnually, Trinity-Pawling accepts a limited number of Post Graduate students who will complete an extra year of high school prior to matriculating to college. Although PGs only attend T-P for one year, they are welcomed into our community as vital members of the senior class. Trinity-Pawling's academic structure, broad availability of courses and electives and strong athletic programs provide a fulfilling experience. Strengthen your academic profile & educational maturity or improve your athletic abilities!

A PG schedule will be designed to challenge the student, enhance his current academic profile and to prepare him for the rigors of college. Stronger students will be enrolled in one or more of our 18 AP (Advanced Placement) classes. The same structure, resources and support that has enabled T-P students to graduate successfully for over 100 years, is made available to all PGs.

Whether a PG wants to expand his opportunities to carry on his athletic career into college, or simply enjoy the camaraderie of the competition, Trinity-Pawling can satisfy his need. If he has set his sights on a varsity team, he should contact us early since spaces for PGs are limited.

College Counseling

As an accepted PG, our college counselors will be in contact with him almost immediately upon acceptance to begin the process. We want him to be as prepared as our rising seniors who began the process during their junior year. He will review and revise his college list, generate new interests, initiate new contacts and improve his chances of successful matriculation.

In general, our PGs are highly motivated and working toward a goal---graduation and beyond. Trinity-Pawling post graduate students are a welcomed part of our long-standing traditions throughout the school year, and are expected to participate in our Stepping Up Ceremony and Graduation.

A Commitment to Character

As we prepare young men for the world beyond Trinity-Pawling, we seek to convey this fundamental lesson: Character is the single most influential force to propel us forward - whether academically, physically, socially, or spiritually.

Trinity-Pawling has so much to offer!

Not Just In the Classroom

What makes Trinity-Pawling unique? The Effort System is at the heart of everything we do.

The Pride

At Trinity-Pawling, every boy is a three-season athlete.  Whether he is learning the basics or has been excelling for years, he is part of the School's century-old athletic tradition.  T-P competes in the Founders' League, a highly competitive arena showcasing some of the nation's best prep school talent. T-P offers 13 interscholastic sports with 30 teams.

We're Seriously Creative

The Arts are an integral part of every Trinity-Pawling student's education. Whether they wish to develop existing talents or experiment with an entirely new form of expression, each student will have at least one year of music, theater, visual art or art history.

As a parent or guardian of a Trinity-Pawling student, you are a welcome member of the community. Your involvement through event attendance, participation in the Parents' Association, or simply staying connected is appreciated.

This could be you!

Over 100 years ago, Frederick Luther Gamage, Trinity-Pawling's Founding Headmaster, said, "Whether a boy succeeds or fails in the first instance at everything he tries is irrelevant.  The only boy who truly fails is the boy who fails to try."  Today, a century later, 315 boys live learn and grow together in an environment that fosters commitment, effort and character across the board.
