Chapel Life

AcolytesAs an Episcopal School, our community life at Trinity-Pawling is grounded in Christian charity and guided by the particularly Anglican interplay of faith and reason. Our faith is one driven by practicing the virtue of love, and our reason is one driven by valuing the exercise of the mind. In both these endeavors, we embrace the mystery of God revealed in the Incarnation and see each person as a child of God.  Divine mystery manifest in Jesus Christ inspires each of us to grow in our faith, and Trinity-Pawling strives to create that possibility by inculcating in each student the knowledge that he has a soul and is, first and foremost, a spiritual being whom God calls to redemption.  The spiritual life at Trinity-Pawling finds its center in All Saints Chapel, where the school gathers to start the day.

We are thankful for the opportunity to gather each day so that we might thank God for all he has done.  On Monday, Thursday, and Friday, the entire school meets to start the day by singing a hymn, reading from Scripture, hearing a Chapel Talk, saying a prayer, and making announcements.  On Tuesday, all meet together, sometimes in the morning and sometimes in the evening, to read or sing one of the services from the Book of Common Prayer.  Voluntarily, individuals may choose to make their communion on Sunday evenings throughout the year and on Holy Days during the week.  By coming together in All Saints Chapel we honor and praise God by saying to each other, “Whoever you are and wherever you are in your journey of faith you are welcome here.”

As a complement to the Episcopal services offered in the chapel, Trinity-Pawling encourages students to participate in a variety of religious services off campus.  We provide regular rides on Sunday mornings to Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in the village for the celebration of the Eucharist, to Roman Catholic Mass at St. John’s Church in Pawling, Shabbat Services at Temple Beth Elohim in Brewster, and Friday Prayers at Masjid Al-Noor in Wappingers Falls.

It is our hope that Trinity-Pawling’s chapel life provides a religious discipline and context for students, faculty, and staff on which to build their inner life and in which it may grow, sending them into the world, loving God with all their heart, mind, soul, and strength and their neighbor as themselves.

Not Just In the Classroom

What makes Trinity-Pawling unique? The Effort System is at the heart of everything we do.

The Pride

At Trinity-Pawling, every boy is a three-season athlete.  Whether he is learning the basics or has been excelling for years, he is part of the School's century-old athletic tradition.  T-P competes in the Founders' League, a highly competitive arena showcasing some of the nation's best prep school talent. T-P offers 13 interscholastic sports with 30 teams.

We're Seriously Creative

The Arts are an integral part of every Trinity-Pawling student's education. Whether they wish to develop existing talents or experiment with an entirely new form of expression, each student will have at least one year of music, theater, visual art or art history.

Welcome!

As a parent or guardian of a Trinity-Pawling student, you are a welcome member of the community. Your involvement through event attendance, participation in the Parents' Association, or simply staying connected is appreciated.

This could be you!

Over 100 years ago, Frederick Luther Gamage, Trinity-Pawling's Founding Headmaster, said, "Whether a boy succeeds or fails in the first instance at everything he tries is irrelevant.  The only boy who truly fails is the boy who fails to try."  Today, a century later, 315 boys live learn and grow together in an environment that fosters commitment, effort and character across the board.
