Soccer - JV vs. Millbrook School

Event Type: Regular
Advantage:Home

Date: September 27, 2017

Result:Win
Score:5-2

Event Recap:
Early on, it looked as if Millbrook might have the upper hand, but the Pride's defense, led by Ryan Devanny '18, Ben Verdesi '18, and captains Thomas Harkin '18 and Mitch Bown '19, held a tough line. Goalie Matt Shultz was aggressive, as well, and came out of his net to thwart any chances. Making the appropriate adjustments, the Pride got their feet and began to move the ball well, and, by the end of the first half, the Pride had a 3-0 lead thanks to goals from AJ O'Buck '19, Brett Ginac '19, and Owen Sheppard '20 - all three due in large part to some great hustle plays. With a short yet appreciated halftime rest from the surprising, late-September heat, the boys headed out to the field determined to keep things going in the same direction, and they did just that. The score quickly became 5-0 due to two penalty kicks - a fine, top-corner bid from David Choi '18 and a neatly-placed, low-corner shot from Marcus Beato '19. With a comfortable lead, the boys finished off the game with respectable play. Overall, it was a good team effort, while the boys improved on their ability to move the ball and communication. They will look to keep things rolling next Wednesday when they face Choate at home. Game time is set for 4 PM.
