Event Type: Regular
Advantage:Home

Date: December 10, 2016

Result:Loss
Score:2-3

Event Recap:

The JV Pride welcomed the Winged Beavers of Avon Old Farms to Tirrell Rink for the home opener. Avon was quick out of the gate, outshooting the Pride 10-8 in the opening stanza to take a 2-0 lead into the locker room.

The Pride dominated the remainder of the game, but turnovers negated scoring opportunities. Chris Poletta cut the lead in half with a blast from the point and the Pride seemed ready to find the equalizer. Unfortunately,  Avon tallied a third goal to regain a two goal cushion.

The Pride found themselves man down near the conclusion of the period, when Joe Pizzo intercepted an Avon pass and took it in on a breakaway. Pizzo nailed the five hole and cut the lead to 3-2 to close the second period.

The Pride did everything but score in the third period, outshooting Avon 10-4, but were unable to put one home. It was a hard fought game, and once the boys can put together three solid periods, they will regain their winning ways. Linus Wramage was solid in net making 17 saves on 20 shots.

The Pride drop to 1-2 on the season and will resume the game schedule In January after Christmas Break. Thanks to all the friends and family who came to support the boys. Happy Holidays.
