Soccer - 3rd vs. Taft School

Event Type: Regular

Date: November 9, 2011

Event Recap:

In a game that saw momentum shift suddenly back and forth T-P lost a heartbreaker to Taft 3-2. After 30 minutes of play Taft was up 2-0 on a good shot from the 18 yard line and a mix up next to the left post that Taft bumped in. Peter Bi played well in goal and stopped one breakaway. But with less than 10 minutes in the half T-P scored twice within 2 minutes to even the score. David Wu took a Direct Kick from 30 yards out that went into the far upper corner. Moments later Rodrigo de Menezes was tripped dribbling into the box and score on the ensuing Penalty Kick.

In the second half the ball moved from end to end as first one team and then the other attacked and then counterattacked. Joey Barone held steady at sweeper stopping many offensive plays by Taft. In the 29th minute Taft moved down their left side in a series of passes and scored on goalie John Kelly. That goal decided the game as time ran out while T-P prepared to take a final corner kick.

The team's record was 1-7-2 and several players will move up to JV and Varsity in the future.
