The mighty roar of the Pride from Trinity-Pawling could be heard throughout the Erickson League this fall as the Varsity Football Team won the league outright finishing with a 7-1 record. As a result of winning the Erickson League, Trinity-Pawling earned a place in the Bill Glennon Bowl opposite Choate to finish the season. Unfortunately, the Pride did not have their best day on a gorgeous November afternoon in Wallingford, CT but they walked off the field with their heads held high as they enjoyed the most successful season in almost a decade.
Led by Erickson League Player of the Year and All-New England selection senior Brandon Harris at quarterback, the Pride were undefeated in the friendly confines of David N. Coratti Field beating arch rival Avon Old Farms to open the season. Fittingly, Trinity-Pawling wrapped up the Erickson League Championship at home under the lights against a talented Brunswick team. Junior Ray Davis had a break out performance on that fateful night rushing for over 200 yards and 3 touchdowns. All-New England and All-Erickson League performers included post-graduate captain Will Dencker, who was a terror on opposing offenses from his middle linebacker position, and post-graduate running back Dakota Harvey, who finished just shy of 1000 yards for the season. Steady efforts from All-Erickson League linemen Ricky Norris and Sam Opont, the pride will have big shoes to fill next year...literally.
An integral part of the Trinity-Pawling Football program is to build character and community, therefore we'd like to spotlight all of the 16 Seniors that had a direct impact on the success of this season because of their leadership and work ethic. Peter Alexis, Will Dencker, Jonathan Girard, Brandon Harris, Dakota Harvey, Dennis Ilmela, Ibrahim Kante, Christian Layne, Kenny McDougal, Ricky Norris, Sam Opont, Nik Rango, Kevin Salis, Jeffrey Thompson, Jean-Paul Vincent, and Jeremy Wilson – you are Champions!
Congratulations on a wonderful season!
