Posted 06/05/2009 11:55AM

For immediate release

St. Mark's Church, Hand-in-Hand Foundation and The Michael B. Stabile Scholarship Fund announce a benefit concert featuring Alejandro Escovedo, an award winning folk rock singer and one of the legends of today's American music, to be held at St. Mark's Church (New Canaan, CT) on June 21, 2009. The proceeds of the concert and a silent auction at the reception following the concert will benefit Camp Hand-in-Hand in New Canaan and the Michael B. Stabile '97 Memorial Scholarship Fund at Trinity-Pawling School.

Camp Hand-in-Hand is a state licensed summer day camp devoted to bringing
together five to eight year old children of all races, ethnicities, abilities, religions, and socioeconomic backgrounds from around Fairfield County to help them learn about and appreciate their differences. The Michael B. Stabile '97 Memorial Scholarship Fund was established in 2003 at Trinity-Pawling School by Michael's family, classmates, and friends to provide financial assistance to students in the School's Language Program, which works to alleviate basic learning disabilities and provide them with the opportunity to realize a full range of academic potential through their college years.

Alejandro is an acclaimed songwriter, whose works are powerful and beautiful, witty and painful. He has made more than a dozen albums and has performed live by himself, in rock bands playing everything from punk to Americana, and with his own orchestra. According to Dave Marsh, well known rock critic and author of Bruce Springsteen on Tour: 1968-2005: "Onstage,
Alejandro turns in consistently great shows at the level of his contemporary Bruce Springsteen. He's one of this country's greatest popular music artists, no matter who doesn't know it."

The concert will be at 5 pm on Sunday, June 21 in the sanctuary at St. Mark's Church in New Canaan, CT and will be followed by a wine and hors d'oeuvres reception and a silent auction in the courtyard at St. Mark's Church. Tickets, which are $100 for adults and $50 for students, will be on sale after the morning services at St. Mark's Church and Grace Church on each Sunday in June and in the Lion's Den Bookstore at St. Mark's Church during its regular business hours, beginning May 17. Tickets will also be on sale at the door on the evening of the concert.

The silent auction at the reception will include two tickets to a Fall 2009 Bruce Springsteen concert in New Jersey with 2 E Street Lounge passes as well as a copy of the book Bruce Springsteen on Tour, signed by its author Dave Marsh. Other items include two tickets to the Ambassadors Of Rock Concert at the Hard Rock Café in New York City September 2009, including Hard Rock VIP All Access Membership and a $100 Gift Card to the Hard Rock Café, as well as two tickets to the television show, The View. The last two events will each include a dinner or lunch at a restaurant in New York to be named.
