Philosophy
In the Trinity-Pawling hockey program, we build on our reputation of playing with passion and good sportsmanship. Our coaching staff recognizes the importance of skill development and good hockey habits. All hockey players are invited to engage in a dynamic program detailed by film, age-appropriate strength and conditioning, and on-ice training.
History
Our hockey traditions date back to the founding of the school, with boys playing on the pond from 1910 until Tirrell Rink was constructed in 1962. The rink is named for David Tirrell, head coach of the program from 1949 to 1955 and primary author of the NCAA Hockey Guidebook. Bill Cooper followed as head coach after Tirrell and his successful career lasted 20 years, including a Housatonic Championship. Most recently, the team took home the championship title for the Founders League 2017-2018 Championship.
League
Trinity-Pawling varsity hockey competes in the Founders League against schools such as Avon, Choate, Hotchkiss, Kent, Loomis, Taft, and Westminster. The Pride also competes against fellow Housatonic League members Deerfield and Salisbury. Other rivals include Albany Academy, Brunswick, Canterbury, Gunnery, and Millbrook.
