A Look at the Fall Term on Campus
Wondering what the fall term at T-P was like during this unusual time? Check out this video to learn more! "Things might look a little different this year, with masks and social distancing. These are things we need to do now to keep each other safe. But if you think about it, we've always been about bringing out the best in each other, and having each other's backs. Although some things are different, certain things will never change: tradition, community, hard work, and the brotherhood."
Fall Weekends
While students couldn't spend Saturday afternoons playing and attending interscholastic athletic competitions, the faculty kept things busy and fun by introducing weekend game days and events. From the Quad Olympics, to softball matches, to an outdoor play festival, cookouts, campfires, and more, there was plenty for students to do and many opportunities to have fun and create community!
The Common Good Podcast 🎧 Students in Modern Media
New this year at Trinity-Pawling, the Common Good Podcast is hosted and produced by students in Joe Poon's Modern Media class. The podcast is an interactive way for students to learn how to debate and defend perspectives that they may not necessarily believe in. It offers a unique opportunity for students to engage in constructive conversations, listen to their opponents, and achieve compromise. Although the fall athletic season was very different this year, Trinity-Pawling athletes adapted and truly rose to the occasion in their respective sports. A silver lining during this time: winter and spring sports were able to get a head start on their training a couple of days a week, fostering team bonding and skill-building. Read below for a recap!
Fall Athletics Roundup 2020
This fall, Pride football competed in Wednesday 7-on-7 Blue vs. Gold games that brought out a slate of on-campus spectators. The teams were divided by class: sophomores and juniors vs. seniors and freshmen, by coach draft, and in their final iteration, by the team managers. The format took 8-minute quarters, with 20-yard first down markers, and a required 'Big Daddy Down' in each set of downs to ensure that all players (even the linemen) participated in the game.
The Trinity-Pawling soccer team practiced hard all season, appreciating the leadership from outgoing seniors to help prepare a large group of upcoming stars for future success.
Cross country runners built on their intrasquad competition to run a number of virtual races against Founders League teams this fall. The season culminated in a championship race on November 7. Trinity-Pawling had four of the first seven finishers, making the team the second best in the event!
Throughout the Fall Term, the newly-formed mountain biking team rode over 150 miles! The boys trained and rode daily on both our on-campus trails (which they maintain themselves) and several locations around the Hudson Valley. The team also built one new trail this fall and started a second one, which will be continued in the spring.
Enjoy this quick video of the boys on the trails!
