Dear Parents,
I hope this letter finds you and your families well. Due to a variety of reasons, your son was not able to move into his dorm on campus last weekend. The purpose of this letter is to outline the late return protocols in greater detail.
All late returning students will need to arrive on Sunday, January 24 and complete a check-in at the Health Center. This will be the last opportunity to join our community in-person for the Winter Term.
Trinity-Pawling will again utilize Pick-A-Time to schedule time slots for each student to move in. Please please select an available time here on your assigned move-in day. If travel plans prevent you from returning during one of the assigned times, please contact Dutch Keel to arrange a separate arrival time at dkeel@trinitypawling.org.
While on campus, all family members will need to wear masks. All students will need to have a negative PCR COVID-19 test taken within 7 days of your return. In the time between the students' taking a test and their return to campus, all should remain quarantined at home. A student who does not have a negative PCR COVID-19 test or who has not completed all the pre-arrival health forms will not be able to remain on campus. The documentation will need to include information about the type of test, the date of the test, and the name of the person taking the test. In some cases, notification of a negative result is delivered via text message; however, the school would need a copy of the report, which often must be requested from the testing company. Please upload the test results to the Magnus Health Portal and complete all health forms. You can access Magnus Health via the Parent Portal. We also recommend that you bring a hardcopy of the negative PCR COVID-19 test result when you come to campus. If you have questions about the testing requirements, please contact Tami Harrah, Director of Nursing, at tharrah@trinitypawling.org.
Any student who is symptomatic or whose family member is symptomatic for COVID-19 should contact the School immediately. Symptoms include fever, cough, shortness of breath, fatigue, body aches, headache, loss of the sense of taste or smell, sore throat, or gastrointestinal issues.
After arriving on campus, students will need to quarantine until they are tested with the rest of our community on Wednesday, January 27. Until the results of that test are returned, students will need to stay in their quarantine rooms, with the exception of trips to the bathroom. We expect the results to be back no later than Friday, January 29. During this time, students will be expected to attend classes remotely from their quarantine rooms. Due to space considerations, students may need to quarantine in a room with one other student. Meals and snacks will be brought to them in their rooms. Faculty will check on them frequently and ensure they have everything they need.
While I wish this process was not so drawn out, our goal is to take every measure to prevent infections on our campus so that we may continue to offer in-person education. This education is not limited to classes, but also includes the friendship of peers and the mentorship of coaches and faculty. We feel this is worth protecting. As always, we appreciate your support and flexibility, which allows us to deliver the best educational experience possible to our students.
If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to Dutch Keel, Dean of Residential Life, at dkeel@trinitypawling.org. Thank you for your continued support!
