August 24, 2021 Dear Trinity-Pawling Families, I hope each of you has had a wonderful summer. We look forward to welcoming new students to campus and welcoming back our returning students in the coming weeks. In this letter, you will find important information about our return to school protocols for the 2021-2022 academic year – a year that we are excited to start. Please be sure to read the letter thoroughly in order to be fully prepared for the Opening of School. Boarding Student Move-In Dates Saturday, September 4th 8:30 AM - 11:00 AM Early Sports Participants - by invitation only Friday, September 10th 8:30 AM - 11:00 AM - New Students 2:30 PM - 5:00 PM - Returning Students Trinity-Pawling will again utilize Pick-A-Time to schedule time slots for each student to move-in. Please select an available time slot on the day you are moving in, based on your dormitory assignment. If there is not a time available on the day you are expecting to move-in or if you will be unable to move in during the given time blocks, please contact Dutch Keel at dkeel@trinitypawling.org or call 845-855-4818. Instructions for logging into Pick-A-Time and selecting a time can be found here. Additionally, please be aware of the following health and safety protocols that all students and families are expected to follow during the Opening of School: - All students will need a negative PCR COVID-19 test taken within 72 hours of arrival on campus.
- Students will check in when they arrive on campus in the Smith Field House. At this time, they will be screened for COVID-19 symptoms, take a PCR COVID-19 test, drop off medications with the nursing staff, verify the receipt of COVID-19 test results, make sure that all Health Center and Business Office forms are completed, and pick up their dorm keys. Uploading completed forms to the Magnus Health Portal and completing all Business Office forms ahead of time will greatly streamline this process. The PCR COVID-19 test taken on campus will be a saliva test. This means that the student must not eat, drink, or brush their teeth within 30 minutes of arriving on campus.
- While in campus buildings, all family members will need to wear masks, out of an abundance of caution.
- Between the time of taking this pre-arrival PCR COVID-19 test and your son's arrival on campus, we ask that each student observe quarantine standards at home until they travel to campus.
- A student who does not have a negative PCR COVID-19 test or who has not completed all the pre-arrival health forms will not be able to remain on campus. We recommend that you bring a hard copy of the negative COVID-19 test result when you come to campus. Recently, some testing facilities have sent results as a text message, but any result will need to have the student's name, the type of test administered (which must be a PCR test), and the date of test to be accepted.
- Any student who is symptomatic or whose family member is symptomatic for COVID-19 should contact the School and reschedule their move-in day. Symptoms include fever, cough, shortness of breath, fatigue, body aches, headache, loss of the sense of taste or smell, sore throat, or gastrointestinal issues.
- After completing check-in, students will then proceed to their dorms to move in. In order to decrease the density of individuals in the dorms, parents should plan to help move their son's belongings into the dorm, but might not have time to completely set up the room. In all buildings, those who accompany students should wear masks out of an abundance of caution. All students can be in casual dress while moving in.

As a friendly reminder, please be sure to review the Opening of School 2021 Hub on our website to complete the back to school checklist with your sons. This page has been updated throughout the summer and serves as the central location for all information relevant to the start of the new school year. While there is much formality to this process and to this letter, it is done so with an interest in maintaining a safe community and to allow for in-person classes. We truly believe that learning happens best in person and are striving to make sure that we have the opportunity to teach in this manner. We appreciate your trust in us and the willingness of all to work for the collective good during these challenging times. As with all plans during this time, this is subject to change and we appreciate your support and flexibility, which allows us to deliver the best educational experience possible to our students. Thank you for your continued support. We look forward to another successful year on campus! Sincerely, Dutch Keel Dean of Residential Life |
