Baseball - Varsity
The Trinity-Pawling Varsity Baseball Team plays in the competitive New England Founder’s League with top prep programs across the area. The Pride has established a winning tradition at T-P with two of its best seasons coming during the ’16 and ’17 campaigns.
The Trinity-Pawling Baseball staff is committed to providing each student-athlete with the opportunity to reach his goals as a player. For some, this might be improving his skills, increasing playing time, or competing at the Varsity level, and for others, it means continuing play at the collegiate level. But, more importantly, our priority is developing each player as a strong and independent person, a well-rounded and skilled student, and as a contributing citizen. Our highest priority is the development of great character. Growth of the complete student-athlete takes place through seizing opportunities and overcoming challenges. We want all of our players to achieve this growth through engagement in the classroom, development of relationships, the taking healthy risks, broadening of their passions, and involvement in the community. Regular meetings with advisors and coaches are designed to ensure that each player is taking advantage of these opportunities for growth.
Pre-Season Spring Training
Trinity-Pawling Baseball begins each season with its annual Spring Training trip to the Fort Pierce and Port St. Lucie area of Florida. The outstanding “Florida Coast Spring Training Organization” hosts the trip, while our training typically features 5-6 full game scrimmages against top Northeast and Canadian opponents, 6-8 full practice sessions, and numerous additional hitting or pitching specific sessions. Spring Training is a critical component of T-P Baseball’s pre-season preparation. Upon its return from Florida, the Pride typically take on a few local scrimmages before entering the regular season.
We believe that it is critical for each player to utilize his off-season time to improve himself as an “athlete”. This includes competing in a second or third sport as many players do, participating in our Strength and Conditioning Programs, or training in groups or individualized sessions throughout the year. The Strength and Conditioning Program is constructed for the athlete and is designed for improving athletic performance and health through a focus on dynamic movement, explosion, power and mobility. The addition of the newly constructed “Smith Field House” equipped with multi-purpose flooring, full-length batting tunnel, bullpen facilities, and training equipment provides T-P Baseball players' ample space and facilities for year-round development on an individual, group, or team basis.
College Recruiting and Placement
Working side-by-side with our College Placement Office and each athlete, the T-P coaching staff works to build a comprehensive list of best-fitting schools for those players wishing to compete at the collegiate level. Communications with college coaches are critical and should begin as soon as is appropriate for each athlete. Recently, T-P joined SportsRecruits to facilitate and track this communication. SportsRecruits is a college recruiting platform used by high school players and coaches. From this platform, players and coaches are able to connect with any coach in the country, send, emails, attach video, show transcript information, as well as statistics. Our players have had success in the recruiting process because of this communication. Over the past several years, T-P players have moved on to play at the Division I, II and III levels within the ACC-Atlantic Coast Conference, Big East Conference, NEC-Northeast Conference, NESCAC-New England Small School Athletic Conference, MAAC-Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference, NYAC-New York Athletic Conference, and Northeast-10 Conference among others.
