Formal Announcement from Board President Elizabeth P. Allen

Dear Trinity-Pawling Family and Friends,

It is my honor and pleasure to announce that the Board of Trustees has appointed William W. Taylor as the next Headmaster of Trinity-Pawling School, effective July 1, 2015. This unanimous appointment was the result of united and enthusiastic support from the Search Committee. In Bill, we see a leader of deep understanding, creativity, and vision who will build upon the remarkable progress sustained for our School by Arch Smith. We look forward to an exciting future as we advance the mission and uphold the young men of Trinity-Pawling.

A nationally known and highly regarded educational leader, Bill is no stranger to Trinity-Pawling School. He began his educational career here in 1988, as a teacher, coach and dorm master, eventually serving as Assistant Headmaster from 1992 to 2001. From Trinity-Pawling, Bill was appointed Associate Head of St. George’s Independent School in Memphis, TN. His charge was to expand upon a thriving 350-student lower school program by establishing new middle and upper schools. The result is a three-campus institution that today serves 1,200 students in preschool through 12th grade. President of St. George’s since 2006, Bill led the creation and refinement of academic programs that foster a values-driven school culture, blending high expectations with a keen focus on the needs of students. He oversaw a number of construction projects and significantly increased philanthropic support of St. George’s during his tenure. Throughout his career, Bill has demonstrated an ability to connect with young people in the classroom and on the playing field, strong moral character, and a dynamic leadership style—qualities we esteem and that will serve him well as Headmaster of Trinity-Pawling.

Our search attracted a remarkable number of impressive candidates from around the country, and this appointment is the result of a long, thoughtful, and rigorous search process led by Erik Olstein ’86; P’11, P’14, P’17 and Robert Ix ’83. I would like to extend my sincere thanks to Erik and Rob, and to the other members of the Search Committee: Tom Ahrensfeld ’73, Doug Ebert ’64, Janet Keating P’99, Maureen Miller P’12, P’15 and Chris Roux ’73. We also owe thanks to the faculty, staff, and students who met with the finalist candidates and provided valuable feedback to the Search Committee, and also to the alumni and parents who shared their hopes and insights into the School at the beginning of the process. Finally, we are deeply grateful to Arch Smith for his support and assistance throughout, and for the example he has set of dedicated leadership these past 25 years.

Throughout the spring, Bill and his wife, Jennifer, will make periodic visits to Pawling for meetings as they become reacquainted with the town and the School before joining us officially on July 1. We look forward to having the Taylors here and hope that you will help us welcome them back to Trinity-Pawling School.

Sincerely,

Elizabeth P. Allen
President, Board of Trustees

Not Just In the Classroom

What makes Trinity-Pawling unique? The Effort System is at the heart of everything we do.

The Pride

At Trinity-Pawling, every boy is a three-season athlete.  Whether he is learning the basics or has been excelling for years, he is part of the School's century-old athletic tradition.  T-P competes in the Founders' League, a highly competitive arena showcasing some of the nation's best prep school talent. T-P offers 13 interscholastic sports with 30 teams.

We're Seriously Creative

The Arts are an integral part of every Trinity-Pawling student's education. Whether they wish to develop existing talents or experiment with an entirely new form of expression, each student will have at least one year of music, theater, visual art or art history.

Welcome!

As a parent or guardian of a Trinity-Pawling student, you are a welcome member of the community. Your involvement through event attendance, participation in the Parents' Association, or simply staying connected is appreciated.

This could be you!

Over 100 years ago, Frederick Luther Gamage, Trinity-Pawling's Founding Headmaster, said, "Whether a boy succeeds or fails in the first instance at everything he tries is irrelevant.  The only boy who truly fails is the boy who fails to try."  Today, a century later, 315 boys live learn and grow together in an environment that fosters commitment, effort and character across the board.

Stay Connected!

Trinity-Pawling has a rich tradition of alumni connectivity. We want you to participate in the life and vitality of the School. Through this engagement, alumni will help Trinity-Pawling propel forward.
