Here at Trinity-Pawling, we understand that the college process can seem just as overwhelming to parents as it is to their sons. Below is a series of resources that may alleviate some of the trepidation from the process.
Trinity-Pawling uses the Naviance Network so that counselors, students and parents can all access pertinent information during the college process.
Using Naviance’s Family Connection feature parents will be able to:
- Track a student’s college application
- Receive updates on student meetings with their counselor
- See schedules of upcoming college visits
- Research colleges
- Populate lists of similar colleges
- Find data such as GPAs, SAT and ACT scores about admitted students at various colleges
All students and parents are given a Naviance account during the spring of their junior year.
Junior COLLEGE Day
Every year at the end of Christmas break, the College Office hosts Junior College Day, where we outline the college process for the families of our junior class. We structure the event around presentations and panels featuring several admissions officers from colleges in our area. This gives families the opportunity to ask questions of and hear from college representatives that work directly with student applications. This day will also allow parents to meet our college placement team that will be working with their sons.
This year's Junior Parents Day will be held on
January 2, 2018.
We believe that seeing different college campuses and getting a feel for their individual atmosphere is a very important part of choosing the right school. We also understand that the nature of boarding school means that parents are not always able to go on these visits with their sons.
In order to help with this we offer two college tours, one at the beginning of March break and one at the end of the academic year. Each tour will offer multiple routes each containing its own distinct set of campuses. Students who sign up will meet with either Mr. Mead or Mr. Harff and pick the route that suits their college list best.
This year we are offering tours March 1-3, 2018 and June 3-5, 2018.
Please contact Mr. Mead for more details.
